SPECIAL NOTE - A BRILLIANT KERALA GEM IN LONDON - "MALABAR JUNCTION" - 3rd June 2009
107 GREAT RUSSELL STREET - CENTRAL LONDON - NEAR BRITISH MUSEUM - OPPOSITE BLOOMSBURY HOTEL.
I only discovered this real taste of Kerala in June 2009 - extensive authentic Kerala menu.
A deceptively small entrance leads to a ground floor large daylight bathed restaurant providing silver service.
Downstairs there is a quick service separate dinning area especially convenient  for lunchtime.
Really, really enjoyable and I intend to visit again - regularly when in London. Highly recommended....and waiters speak Malayalam.

NEW YEAR 2007
Raising a toast at "Lagoona Davina" - Pachalloor.

The C.S.I. Christ Church - Trivandrum's Harvest Festival traditionally takes place on Advent Sunday  -  This year on 2rd December 2007.
The morning service commenced at 7.45am followed by breakfast  -  I had appam and chicken stew  -  at a cost of 20 rupees including a cup of tea.
Currently 81 rupees to £1.

Outside the church three marquees are erected, which were also full for the service, and after breakfast the auction starts for items which the congregation have brought.
These may be things which have been grown or made  -  plants, bananas, cushions or donated gifts.
in 2006 one of my auction  gifts  -  an   "Exclusive" photographic print of Reverend Viju fetched 800 rupees.
This year my gifts raised a little more !

A break takes place for lunch  -  I had vegetable curry and rice  -  again at 20 rupees, and then the auction continues.
Great fun is had by all not only at the auction but also at the numerous stalls and games.
Whilst in 2006 I won a bottle of lemonade on the hoopla stall, this year my  eye and hand co-ordination wasn't as lucky.

I hope that these pictures from 2006 / 2007 manage to convey some of the enjoyable atmosphere.

In 2006 the event raised over 9 lakh rupees for church funds and its projects  -  around:  £11,000.   or   $21.000.

All pictures without a date were taken in 2006
