HOW TO GET AHEAD  -  HAVE FUN

Your "PERSONALITY TEST" is at the end of this page.

"The play was a great success, but the audience was a total failure"
Oscar Wilde.

Media Seminar Outline:
Why coaching and not training?
Too many believe that there are rules which MUST be followed in order to become a good communicator.
If it was just a case of  training somebody to follow rules, "do's and don'ts", then everybody would be brilliant.
Demonstrably this is not so. Similar to Oscar Wilde, you may well have a wonderful speech but you fail to communicate with your audience.
New Image PR believes rules are for guidance not restriction. The key issue is to ensure that anybody trying to communicate has achieved for themselves a
"relaxed air of confidence".
To realise this our coaching techniques build upon your personality,  attributes and style.
Utilising this approach, whatever  your image, vocal quality or confidence levels, improvement in your communication skills is assured.
Because development is based on your potential and not a set of rules the experience of our "Media Coaching Seminar" stays with you.
You have the confidence to continue developing your own personal style.
The first part of the seminar is therefore entitled:
KNOW YOURSELF

"I am the most spontaneous speaker in the world because every word, every gesture
and every retort has been carefully rehearsed".
George Bernard Shaw.

Shaw and Oscar disagree?
Understanding the techniques
Yes there are rules, but if one accepts they are there for guidance not restriction, then it is important that the principles and the logic on which they are based are understood.
For example:
How do you avoid a charge of being "Arrogant"?
Why is it nobody remembered what you had said?
Why did they misunderstand you?
George Bernard Shaw had obviously heard the next part of the seminar, whereas Oscar Wilde had not, entitled:
HOW TO RELATE

Fun following Dave's afternoon Communication Skills Workshop - November 2007

The Fisherman's Wharf riverside restaurant was an ideal location to celebrate the birthdays of

along with fellow birthday boy Ahmed Al Rais - Sr. Vice President Airfreight.

"When everyone is somebody, then no one's anybody".
W.S. Gilbert. "The Gondoliers" 1889

Everybody is somebody:
Don't jump to conclusions - listen
An important aspect of communication is to be aware that everybody is an individual with personal aspirations and beliefs. Everybody also sets their own limits.
How many times have your heard "We could mount a proper campaign if we had more money?"
The pictures above show "where there's a will - there's a way!" - "the world's a small place!"
The John Major advert was a hand painted display in Panjim-Goa-India.
It is possible to display an awareness of individuality whilst still remaining objective and "on message." With this is mind the seminar develops under the heading:
DON'T JUDGE OR PREJUDGE

"It is exciting to have a real crisis on your hands, when you have spent half your political life dealing with humdrum issues like the environment".
Rt.Hon.Margaret Thatcher.

Margaret Thatcher was right on the button!

Tony Blair only demonstrated that copying is the best form
of compliment!

Tony Blair made the
"Squeaky Toy Dog League".
Former P.M. Gordon Brown
never made it...

Will Prime Minister
David Cameron
Deputy PM Nick Clegg
make it ?

What is image really about?

Personality politics - you are not an actor
Excitement, enthusiasm, a belief in your message and yourself all have a part to play in communication skills.  The Rt Hon Margaret Thatcher's memorable aside, to a member who had interrupted during her last speech as Prime Minister to the House of Commons 22nd November 1990, simply and effectively demonstrates this point.
"Now where were we? I am enjoying this."
Tony Blair was though flagging, whatever the compliments about his last speech as Prime Minister and Labour Leader at the 2006 Party Conference.
"The future is yours - make the most of it" is not a dynamic way to finish !
Tony Blair had forgotten to emulate Margaret Thatcher's style.
It will be interesting to see if he remembers when he makes his last speech in Parliament as Prime Minster !
Whatever the situation, in the "Equity Council Room", meeting "Lord Whitelaw" or giving a "Young Persons' Seminar" you have to experience enjoyment,
a shared belief and excitement.
Whilst practical sessions may include television and radio techniques, press and message skills, image and vocal coaching,
all aspects are designed to inculcate participation and fun.
Coaching in such an atmosphere leads to greater memory retention of the experiences.
Groups may consist of  any number up to a full scale stage presentation or simply be a private "one to one".
Discretion and confidentiality is maintained so as to  give participants the secure knowledge that they may relax and become fully involved, .
New Image PR keeps no records of these sessions and wherever possible all recordings, if not erased,  are given to individual participants to keep.
