"The Althorp Country Show" was the first "Living Heritage Event"  held  in the estate grounds of The Spencer's ancestral family home - the resting place of
Lady Diana, Princess of Wales.
Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, delighted visitors by joining in the fun of the side shows.
"The Tame Country Show" and "The Cholmodeley Castle Country Show"
were the opening and closing shows of "The English Country Show" season starting in the spring and finishing in the early autumn up to 2005.
The 2006 season began earlier with "The Eastern Counties Game and Country Show" held in Ipswich at The Sussex Showground  - March 2006.
These pictures only represent a "taster".
Other shows included the locations of "Broadlands" and "Royal Sandringham".
Part of the fun is being prepared for the unpredictable English weather but a general camaraderie enthuses throughout.
Visitors are able to meet and mingle with exhibitors - special display participants - eventers - traders - crafters - enjoying
"The Country Show Experience".

The Althorp Country Show  -  24th / 25th June 2006

Dave was the main arena compere at the shows which generally attract a spectacular number of visitors, who are able to see over twenty-four demonstrations and personalities. These include "Gamegoer Country Displays", "Hawkeye Falconry", "Modern Dog Display", "Horseball", "Mounted Games Association", "Tom Longton Sheep Dog Demonstration",  "Scurry Driving", "Side-Saddle",  "Lurcherworld Pet Prize Chase", "John Stirland's Gardening Show".  Along with these other displays included:-  "Fur and Feathers", "Rabbits and Hamsters", "Gillies-Leap Fun Scurry", "Fly-fishing", "Horse Logging",  "Vintage Cars", "Funfair-sideshow events". In addition there are invariably over forty crafters and ninety traders.  These events prove, once again, that "Country Shows" are a thriving tradition throughout England.

The Cholmondeley Castle Country Show  -  24th / 25th August 2005

The Cholmondeley Castle Country Show - believe it or not pronounced as "Chumly Castle"  was held in the beautiful and expansive castle grounds situated midst the Cheshire and Welsh boarders of Northern England. The showground included marquees for "Gundogs" - "Fur and Feather" - "Champion Dog Show" - "Music and Dance" - "Craft Village" - "Archery" - "Fine Foods" - "Lurcherworld" - "Gillies - Leap Dog Scurry" and "Fly Ball".  In addition to the usual Main arena events there were "Side Saddle" and "Ray Green's Long-netting" demonstrations." For many of the crafters, exhibitors, display team members,  traders and especially Richard with his fly-fishing, it also provided an  opportunity to reminisce over the 2005 Country Show season until we all meet in Spring 2006!
